Only a short distance away from the main town and local pubs.
Very shabby, supposed to be refurbished rooms. Needs a lot doing to it.

Had central location down the hill. Our room with shower above was beautifully maintained. The staff were pleasant and attentive and know their duties.

Overall we had a very pleasant stay. The staff are friendly and very helpful - I was offered an umbrella as it was raining outside! The breakfast was pretty good, although too greasy for me, my boyfriend was happy with it. We were even offered champagne for breakfast - a nice touch if you were celebrating. We booked a premier double which had its good and bad points. The bed was incredibly comfortable, and the bathroom was very nicely refurbished, although there was a loose tile by the shower.
An attempt to modernise the room is spoilt by a very dated multi coloured duvet cover, poor quality carpet, some old furniture mixed with newer, and curtains that are difficult to open. I'd suggest a big improvement would be made by replacing the duvet with plain White for a much more modern clean look and a plain coloured throw. Theres clearly a desire to provide excellent customer service, the place just needs updating properly in places. I would only not recommend because of the decor. I think people expect good quality decor for the price and might be disappointed but I'd recommend for anyone who didn't want to pay more to go somewhere else and I'd recommend for service and location! I would have ticked yes and no if I had the choice.

We had a fine time in this brand-new hotel in Lichfield. The staff was excellent and efficient in managing every request. We enjoyed sitting at the bar during breakfast. The location was unbeatable and brilliant, within walking distance of Market Square.

The reason for staying at The Cathedral Lodge was to attend a concert at Lichfield Cathedral. It's closeness to The Cathedral makes it ideal.
The volume of the Television in the Bar made it difficult to hold a conversation. We would have stayed longer in the bar if it had been quieter or not on at all. An alternative would have been to turn the sound off and use the subtitles.

It's in a good position for the city centre, easy to park, clean, friendly helpful staff and the breakfast was excellent.
Not really a complaint but I should have asked for a room at the back away from the noise of the main road when the window has to be open.

There were a number of reasons for visiting the uk from New Zealand. 2 were in Lichfield. Appointment during the day was fine. Evening a disaster!!!!!. I was in my room all evening yet a vital message was not given the vital message I was waiting for until I checked out the next morning!!!! Message and telephone services didn't meet domestic nevermind international standards.
